NIST INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

| Bangkok, Thailand The first full, not-for-profit IB World School in Thailand

EMPOWER focuses on providing open-minded students a platform to speak their minds on social and world problems. To build a community that encourages outspoken confidence and has the ability to provoke meaningful change. Through its events, it EMPOWERs the community to acknowledge the imperfections of the world and take action.

Our Profile

EMPOWER is an organization which advocates for freedom of speech, enabling students to address worldwide social issues, including their own personal and passionate topics. We aim to hold public speaking events at international schools around the world to spark new ideas and opinions to open-minded audiences who are willing to attend. We will open admission for students to enroll, and the group will select some of the most interesting topics for the event.

We believe there is great importance in the ability to transform thoughts into spoken thoughts to make a point, take a stand or get a job done. Communication especially verbally is vital in all aspects of social and professional life. This platform gives students an opportunity to develop their character, to become more confident public speakers capable of leadership and communicating new ideas. To do this, students need to be pushed out of their comfort zones. Evidently, this cannot be achieved in regular class settings. EMPOWER will allow students to grow and learn new skills that will be useful in the future.

Which UN Sustainable Development Goals Do We Support?

To provide a clear context for the aims of service groups at NIST, we align our projects to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. The SDGs work in the spirit of partnership and pragmatism to make the right choices now to improve life, in a sustainable way, for future generations.” This NIST group supports the following goals:
