NIST INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

| Bangkok, Thailand The first full, not-for-profit IB World School in Thailand

To empower and connect NIST ‘community & service’ initiatives through an accountable loan and grant system to take action to enrich ourselves, our communities, and the world.

Our Profile

Through the concept of micro-financing, we have created an infrastructure for the school’s service community by providing resources and mentorship. We have enabled service groups to skip the fundraising process and instead commit their efforts to real world action. The NIST Development Bank (NDB) has supported creative service-based initiatives through a loan and grant system, having both a positive and direct impact on the community in the past year.

What’s the Difference Between the the NIST Development Bank and NIST Microcredit Bank?

We are in fact one in the same. The misleading title of NIST Development Bank does not account for the fact that it is broken into two parts. The NDB is in charge of supporting the community and service by offering loans and grants to service groups, while the NIST Microcredit Bank is in charge of providing opportunities to the low income workers here at NIST. Together we form the NIST Development Bank.

Which UN Sustainable Development Goals Do We Support?

To provide a clear context for the aims of service groups at NIST, we align our projects to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. The SDGs work in the spirit of partnership and pragmatism to make the right choices now to improve life, in a sustainable way, for future generations.” This NIST group supports the following goals:
